Gareth Valentine
Musical Supervisor
Gareth Valentine will be Musical Supervisor and Arranger for Gone With The Wind at the New London Theatre. Also in 2008 he will Arrange and MD Strictly Gershwin for the English National Ballet and MD Barbara Cook and Friends at the Coliseum.
Gareth studied at the Royal College of Music, London and then with Sir Peter Pears at Aldeburgh’s Advanced School of Singing and Strings. He became répétiteur at the RCM Opera School and has since worked as Composer, Musical Supervisor, Musical Director, Musical Arranger and Performer.
His recent Musical Supervisor credits include Wicked (West End), Acorn Antiques (UK Tour) and Porgy & Bess at the Savoy Theatre, directed by Trevor Nunn (where he was also responsible for Musical Adaptation). Recent Musical Director & Arranger credits include Fast Forward (National Theatre).
Musical Supervision credits include: Musical Supervisor and Dance Arranger for Sinatra (London Palladium); Musical Supervisor and Dance Arranger for the Victoria Wood musical Acorn Antiques (2005), directed by Trevor Nunn; Composer of the original score and Musical Supervisor for the new Christmas Pantomime at The Old Vic, Aladdin (2004 & 2005), starring Sir Ian McKellen, Maureen Lipman and Roger Allam; Musical Supervisor for the Childline Charity Gala Children Will Listen – The Words and Music of Stephen Sondheim (Theatre Royal, Drury Lane); Musical Supervisor/ Judge for the new television series Musicality, screened on Channel 4; Musical Supervisor/ Dance Arranger/ Musical Director for Anything Goes (Drury Lane & the Royal National Theatre, winner of Olivier Award 2003 for Outstanding Musical Production); Musical Supervisor/ Dance Arranger for the Ben Elton & Rod Stewart musical Tonight’s The Night (Victoria Palace); Janie Dee in Divas at the Donmar (Donmar) and My One & Only (Piccadilly Theatre).

Gareth has conducted the BBC Concert Orchestra on numerous occasions including most recently in June 2005, BBC Radio 2’s Friday Night Is Music Night at the Mermaid Theatre. Gareth has also conducted the National Symphony Orchestra and he has been an Adjudicator for the Llangollen International Eisteddfod and the BBC Voice of Musical Theatre.
Gareth’s REQUIEM was recorded at Abbey Road Studios and was released on 1st December 2001 on the TER label. It has been performed all over the world, including Washington, San Francisco, Melbourne, Colorado, Scandinavia, San Diego and Southwark Cathedral, London and Helsinki.
